Recipe Of The Day 08/19/2014

Furthering the notion that this is a site where pretty much anything can happen, please enjoy this fantastic recipe. It is one of my originals, meaning I did not read this from a book, but perfected it with much trial and error.

Being as it is a dessert, my family didn’t complain very much about that trial and error however.

Please enjoy.
The Four Liquor Field Berry Trifle

1/2 Cup Blueberry Schnapps
1/2 Cup Raspberry Vodka
1/4 Cup Blackberry Schnapps
1/4 Cup White Zinfandel
1 Pint fresh blueberries
1 Pint fresh strawberries
1 Pint fresh raspberries
1 Pint fresh blackberries
2 Cans Custard
1 Cup Sugar
2 Cups fresh whipped cream
1 Large premade poundcake (or you can make your own, but the denser the better)
-One day prior, take each berry and seperate into four seperate bowls, and onto each sprinkle 1/4 cup of sugar. Then add the liquor. Blueberry schnapps for the blueberries, raspberry vodka for the raspberries, blackberry schnapps for the blackberries and white zinfandel for the strawberries. Cover and refigerate for at least 8 hours.

-In a trifle bowl (yes if you don’t own one go get one now or you will be an abject failure) place cubed pieces of pound cake (about 2 inches cubed) in bottom of the bowl enough to tightly cover the bottom of the bowl. Top that with 3 fingers width of custard. Place on top of that half of each of the fruits from the previous day. Don’t be afraid to let them co-mingle a bit. Then do another full set of these layers again. And then top with the whipped cream. Garnish with some stray berries, but don’t go all Martha Stewart stupid about it.

-Refrigerate for 2 hours.

Yes. Its that easy. Half the reason people don’t make this all the time is they think that it’ll be too damn hard. But as you can see it’s pretty much a joke.

Be careful though. It packs a punch.
